Tamara Fidler graduated from the Leningrad Conservatory in 1938 under Leonid Nikolayev and completed its postgraduate program in 1941 under his supervision.
After the start of the Great Patriotic War, she was evacuated with the conservatory to Tashkent, where she worked as an assistant in Nikolayev's class until his death in 1942.
