Rosa Tamarkina studied at the first-stage school of the Kyiv Conservatory from 1925 to 1931 in the class of Nadezhda M. Goldenberg. Goldenberg is identified as one of Tamarkina's pupils and during 1925–1930 headed the piano and music education class at the children's department attached to the Kyiv Conservatory.
