Anatoly Lyadov is listed among the students of Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov. Lyadov transferred to Rimsky-Korsakov's class on the theory of composition. In 1876, he was expelled from the conservatory for non-attendance, but he was reinstated two years later and successfully graduated.
