Beginning in 1904, Sergey Prokofiev studied at the St. Petersburg Conservatory, where he was a student in the orchestration class taught by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov. Prokofiev is listed among the approximately two hundred composers, conductors, and musicologists who were students of Rimsky-Korsakov.
