Mikhail Simonovich Volchok, born on September 10, 1950, is a Russian pianist. He was awarded the title Honored Artist of the Russian Federation in 1994.
He studied at the Secondary Specialized Music School attached to the Leningrad Conservatory with Asya Rubina, then at the Moscow Conservatory with Yakov Zak, and graduated from the Leningrad Conservatory in 1974 in the class of Pavel Serebryakov.
In 1972 he became a prize-winner of the All-Union Pianists' Competition, and in 1976 he won the International Johann Sebastian Bach Competition in Leipzig.
From 1979 he was a soloist with Mosconcert. He taught in Moscow and Leningrad, and later in Italy, Croatia, and South Korea. He currently teaches at the University of Maryland School of Music.
Volchok is also the author of numerous compositions for piano and other instruments. His daughters, Anastasia Volchok and Daria Scarano, are pianists.
