Pyotr Krasnokutsky

Pyotr Krasnokutsky (1849–1900) was a violinist, concertmaster, and music teacher. He was born in Korocha and died in Yermakovo.
From 1862 to 1870, he studied at the Saint Petersburg Conservatory, first with Henryk Wieniawski and, from 1868, with Leopold Auer. He also worked as Auer’s assistant before teaching his own class. He received the title of professor in 1888 and taught at the Imperial Court Chapel.
Krasnokutsky joined the Mariinsky Theatre orchestra in 1867 and served as its concertmaster from 1882 to 1889. Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov dedicated his Fantasy on Two Russian Themes for Violin and Orchestra (1887) to him.
