Vladimir (Wolf) Yampolsky, born Wolf Chaim-Shimonovich Yampolsky, was a Soviet ensemble pianist and accompanist, described as one of the country's best-known accompanists. He was born on 19 January 1905 in Cherkasy, Kyiv Governorate, Russian Empire, and died on 2 June 1965 in Kemerovo, Soviet Union.
Yampolsky graduated from the Leningrad Conservatory in 1933, where he studied in the class of Leonid Nikolayev. From the 1920s he performed in an ensemble with violinist Miron Polyakin. From the 1940s he collaborated with David Oistrakh and served as Oistrakh's regular concertmaster from 1949 to 1960.
He also accompanied violinists Mikhail Fikhtengolts, Leonid Kogan, Igor Oistrakh and Yulian Sitkovetsky, pianist Emil Gilels, cellist Mstislav Rostropovich, and violinist Viktor Klimov.
