Zohrab Adigozalzade was an Azerbaijani pianist, professor, and People's Artist of the Azerbaijan SSR. He was born on July 3, 1940, in Baku, and died there on May 24, 2012.
He studied at the Azerbaijan Conservatory with M. R. Brenner and later graduated from the Leningrad Conservatory in the class of P. A. Serebryakov. These studies formed the basis of his career as a concert pianist and teacher.
From the late 1960s he worked at the conservatory in Baku as a teacher, associate professor, and professor. Alongside his academic work, he maintained an active concert career, performing works by Azerbaijani composers such as Fikret Amirov and Gara Garayev, as well as Russian and European composers.
From 1990 until the end of his life, he served as head of a department at the State Conservatory of Anadolu University in Eskisehir. He died on May 24, 2012, after a long illness. A farewell ceremony was held on May 25 at the Baku Music Academy.
Adigozalzade was the father of the Azerbaijani pianist Murad Adigozalzade. Among his honors, he was named Honored Artist of Azerbaijan in 1967 and People's Artist of Azerbaijan in 1982. He also received an honorary certificate from the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the Azerbaijan SSR on February 24, 1979.
